FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“Little Red Riding Hood Lied. . .”

Bring Rover Over Dog Training
Presents the
2nd Annual Wolf Dog Fundraiser
Benefiting Never Cry Wolf Rescue and Adoption of Sacramento, California

Martinez, California –Bring Rover Over Dog Training will present a Wolf Dog Fundraiser on April 14 at Bring Rover Over Dog Training in Martinez and will feature Sam Blake, founder and President of Never Cry Wolf Rescue and Adoption (NCWRA) and his Wolf Dog Ambassadors, Kenny, Duke and Timber.

Bring Rover Over is proud to bring the Wolf Dog Fundraiser to Martinez for the second year in a row. The Wolf Dog Fundraiser will take place in Martinez at Bring Rover Over Dog Training. During the fundraiser, you spend time with wolf-hybrid dogs, Kenny, Duke and Timber as you learn about NCWRA’s mission and work. It’s amazing to see Blake with his wolf dogs as he has established a modern-day brotherhood with his canine charges, similar to Native Americans. Witnessing the love and adoration that the wolves have for him is truly a sight to behold.

As Blake states on the NCWRA website, “Little Red Riding Hood lied! Wolves are not the demons of the dark. Wolves, Buffaloes and the Native Americans are an intricate part of American heritage. We came very close to annihilating [all of] them. Concerning the wolves, we have not yet learned as a society how to live with them. Native Americans did. They did more than just live side by side, they lived in brotherhood. The wolves were and are a part of their culture.”

During this fundraiser you will:

Meet Wolf Dog Ambassadors Kenny, Duke and Timber

Learn about the desperate plight of the wolves and the amazing work of NCWRA founder, Sam Blake, who works tirelessly to save these amazing beings.

Discover how you can save wolves from extinction

The cost is $75 and advanced registration is required as space is limited. Tickets can be purchased by calling 925.671.9208 or emailing info@animalmuse.com. You can also register by visiting www.animalmuse.com.

Never Cry Wolf Rescue and Adoption of Sacramento, California, is a unique non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing wolves and wolf-hybrids who have been abused or abandoned. In addition, NCWRA founder, Sam Blake, provides Native American and Wolf Educational programs to local schools, libraries and events both public and private.

As per California Fish and Game below, “Gray wolves pose little direct risk to humans”. If this is the case, then why are they not intentionally reintroducing these much needed and special animals into our state’s ecosystem? Hmm… Sounds fishy to me.

As per CA Fish and Game…

“Gray Wolf (Canis lupus)

At this time, there is only one documented gray wolf living in the wild in California.

On Dec. 28, 2011 a 2 ½-year-old, male gray wolf entered California after traveling from northeast Oregon. Designated OR7, his behavior, called dispersal, is not atypical of a wolf his age.

Historically, wolves inhabited California, but were extirpated. Before OR7, the last confirmed wolf in California was here in 1924 and since then, investigated “sightings” have turned out to be coyotes, dogs, wolf-dog hybrids, etc. DFG wildlife managers anticipated that wolves would eventually enter California, and have been preparing for it.

The State of California is not intentionally reintroducing wolves.

Gray wolves pose little direct risk to humans.

Any wolf that enters California is protected as endangered under the federal Endangered Species Act.”

(Read the full page on CA F&G here.)

Speaking of wolves being a much-needed factor in the ecosystem, read what Carter Niemeyer, a former predator specialist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (who worked around these animals for three decades) and author of the new book “Wolfer” has to say in this article written by Matthew K. Jensen of HJNews.com. Matthew quotes Mr. Niemeyer as saying , “Neither myself nor my colleagues have ever had a close call with wolves,” he said. “They are potentially dangerous but I have never had a wolf stand its ground or be aggressive around me in any way shape or form, let alone attack.” (Read the whole article here.)

We encourage our site viewers, as well as our Facebook “likers”, to read the above two pages. They’re short-reads yet very informative. We would like to get your comments on the differences between the two [pages] and why YOU think California’s government (state, Fish and Game, city and county governing entities) is still ignorant to the true nature of wolves and what YOU think it’s going to take to open their eyes?

We need to continue to take a strong stance against anti-wolf legislation and that starts with us working collectively and rising to the challenge of taking on this legislation head-on. We can do this a few ways:

It’s going to take not just educating the private sector (people like you and me) but the public sector (people working for government) as well on true wolf behavior

It’s going to take addressing and confronting the Rabies vaccination issue–working with veterinarians and other pro-wolf entities, as well as, groups and organizations already spearheading this campaign

We need your help! Our wolf ambassadors and ourselves are willing to do our part by making the meetings, organizing and attending educational events and workshops. Help us get the word out that we’re offering wolf education courses in a valiant effort to contradict the fables and legends that have formed and shaped the minds of so many people who have taken these fables as fact rather than fiction

Please take a moment to read the most recent slaughter on these animals–below, and if you get the minute and have the capacity to do so, please consider supporting Defenders as they continue to fight for animals.

It’s disturbing news: Earlier this month, federal employees took to the skies to kill wolves in the Clearwater National Forest.

By the end of this unscientific mission to boost game populations, 14 wolves were shot dead in the Lolo region of the Clearwater National Forest. Already, 28 wolves have been killed this season by hunters, trappers and other means in this area.

Please donate now to help us curb aggressive and unnecessary wolf-killing in Idaho, help ensure a lasting future for wolves in the American West — and protect the wildlife and wild places you care about.

Using federal resources to execute an expensive and unnecessary wolf-killing plan to artificially boost elk populations is simply outrageous and unacceptable.

Defenders is taking immediate steps to urge the Obama administration to reform Wildlife Services. The federal government should not be in the business of killing wolves to boost game populations — especially on our national forests.

We are preparing to mobilize tens of thousands of our supporters, reach out to media outlets and educate the public on this terrible, unnecessary killing of wolves.

That’s why we need your help right now.

Wolf killing operations like these throw science out the window.

Science tells us that elk declines in the Lolo are the result of multiple factors, including historic habitat changes, road-building and over-hunting. The knee-jerk reaction of exterminating wolves without addressing these other factors is not scientific — or sensible — wolf management.

Biologists aren’t even sure of the number of wolves in the Lolo region — killing dozens of wolves could wipe most of these magnificent and ecologically important animals out of the entire area.

Please donate now to help stop the unnecessary killing in Idaho.

Wolves are an essential part of a natural ecosystem and should not be treated like vermin to be exterminated to boost game populations. While Defenders and our allies have been working to restore these keystone species to their historic homes, Idaho officials are killing off too many wolves rather than managing them as valued wildlife.

The aerial gunning of wolves on our national forests is only the latest step in Idaho that unfairly targets wolves. Already, more than 400 wolves — perhaps half Idaho’s population — have been killed through hunting, trapping and other methods. That’s too many.

Idaho holds the core of the Northern Rockies wolf population. If this population is reduced to unsustainable levels, it will directly threaten the viability of the overall regional wolf population.

We need your help to stand up against aggressive wolf-killing policies and ensure a lasting future for wolves in the American West.

For nearly three decades, Defenders has been working with federal, state and local officials on the ground to find commonsense, science-based solutions to ensure that wolves are restored to their historic homes and thrive there.

We’re preparing for another season of our pioneering work with ranchers and livestock producers, using non-lethal techniques to keep wolves and livestock out of harm’s way.

But we need your support to stop aggressive, unnecessary policies that only appease anti-wolf extremists — and make our work to ensure a lasting future for wolves more difficult.

Please donate now to continue these commonsense efforts and protect the wildlife and wild places you care about.

Yesterday, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game confirmed the state is moving forward as soon as weather permits with plans to have the federal Wildlife Services agency kill as many as two thirds of the wolves in the Lolo District of Clearwater National Forest – possibly leaving only 25 or 30 wolves in the district in a misguided attempt to increase elk numbers for hunter harvest.

Help us stop the killing. Please donate now to support our all-out campaign to stop this ill-conceived and unscientific wolf cull.

The killing could begin within days, when snowfall and a break in the storm in the area will make it easier for federal agents in helicopters to find, target and kill wolves in this wild area of Northeastern Idaho.

According to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game director, if Wildlife Services — the federal agency charged with the killing — is allowed to move forward with this plan, the state hopes to expand the use of federal dollars and aerial culling to other national forests in Idaho.

The Obama Administration has not yet indicated how it will respond to Idaho’s request to use federal money and staff to kill these wolves on federal lands, or why it would be justified in doing so since these wolves are on federal lands and not in major conflict with livestock.

That’s why today Defenders is launching a new comprehensive campaign to stop aerial wolf killing in the Lolo District and help ensure an interconnected, sustainable population of these ecologically important animals remain in the region.

Donate now to help stop the killing and save the lives of wolves.

In the next week – with your help –we will launch an outreach plan to make more people aware of this plan, including in media outlets locally and across the country.

We’ll put pressure on federal officials to not participate in Idaho’s unjustified wolf killing plan, including Secretary Tom Vilsack (who oversees the agency that would execute the wolf killing plan in the Lolo District) and President Obama. And we’ll continue to work with ranchers to reduce conflicts with wolves, saving the lives of these amazing and important animals.

This will be a difficult fight, but I believe that our efforts can prevail – with your help. Please donate now to support efforts to save Idaho wolves and other imperiled wildlife.

To support our vital advocacy efforts in the coming days we need to raise at least $50,000 by Monday. Will you help?

The aerial wolf killing plan is not the only new threat to wolves in Idaho.

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission is reportedly investigating the possibility of no limits on people killing wolves on private land, similar to practices in Alberta and British Columbia, Canada, where wolves are far more numerous.

And the chairman of the Idaho Fish and Game Commission even indicated that the state may reclassify wolves as predators under state law – effectively engaging a shoot-on-sight plan similar to Wyoming’s awful plan.

The state reports that pack sizes are down. It also appears that young, less experienced wolves have been the most likely to be killed under Idaho’s wolf plan.

We need to restore science to wolf management in Idaho, and Defenders needs your help to do it. Please donate whatever you can to support our work now.

Woot hoot! All three of the boys found their forever homes recently, and we’re absolutely ecstatic for them as their journey in life begins with their new families (and, of course, we’re excited for the people, too, who are blessed with their new, loving addition in their lives!).

On the heels of their adoptions, we have room for more rescues who are in need of homes. The first one coming in, on the heels of their departure, is Miss Lilly.

Meet Miss Lilly!

Lilly doesn’t yet have her page up as we are in the process of gathering information on her. She’s scheduled to be spayed this Tuesday, the 7th, so we’re excited to receive her in to the pack right after such Look for her personal page, under Adoptions, to be listed very soon!

If you have any questions about our adoption process, please refer to our Adoptions page. And, if you still have questions that wasn’t covered under our Adoptions page, please feel free to contact Sam Blake or Janine Busch.

Okay, it’s that time already for the Adoption Fair at Petco and boy, do we have a few boys that are just anxiously awaiting to meet their new forever families! A quick introduction below will afford you a brief glance into their unique personalities that are adorned with just that extra special touch of warmth that easily envelops one’s soul.

We have Sweet Desmond who is an absolute angel! He’s quite the character who has a very generous spirit.

Next, we have Darling Dakota who is a “ham at heart” and has such a comical presence, it spills over into laughter and smiles on people that find themselves even remotely in his presence.

Last but not certainly not least, we have a new special guy who doesn’t have a name just yet (web page and bio to come soon!).

We would love to see you at the adoption fair on the 4th of February at Petco on Douglas Blvd in Roseville, CA! And, we welcome any questions you may have about either or all of the boys above.

Howls of thanks for your support and we diligently work to find these sweet boys their new forever homes!

HISTORIC OLD TOWN AUBURN 25TH ANNUAL COUNTRY CHRISTMAS
Saturday December 10TH & December 17th, 2011 ~ 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Prepared by: Linda Robinson

If the Holiday Season puts you in the mood to regain some of the spirit of Christmas past, with caroling a fireplace and hot cocoa, then Old Town Auburn with it’s 25th Annual Country Christmas celebration is the place to be.

On two Saturday nights, December 10th & 17th, the streets of Historic Old Town Auburn come alive with Christmas spirit as they are transformed by this popular holiday event. From 5 until 9 each night, the whole community is invited to share in the holiday fun.

Crafters and Artists of the quality our local area is known for, will have their wares on sale for that special one-of-a-kind Christmas gift.

Many local non-profit organizations will be providing a food selection to take care of the dining needs of you and your whole family, in the best of “alfresco” dining. As in years past, the local Volunteer Fire Department will be serving their traditional clam chowder in French bread bowls, Café Delicias will spice up your step with snappy Mexican specialties, and there are all manner of cookies, cakes, hot chocolate and cider, funnel cakes, Kettle Korn, barbequed pulled pork sandwiches, the Native Sons famous baked potatoes, chili and warm ginger bread with whipped cream, and, roasted chestnuts. Sound good? Come for dinner and enjoy the rest of the show!

In the center of the plaza, you can warm yourself by the bonfire as you enjoy some of the fine entertainment scheduled this year. Local cloggers will be on hand to liven your mood and set your feet to tapping. As always, Santa and the Christmas Tree Lady will have candy canes for the kids, young and old. John Crabtree, the chimney sweep will make his traditional appearance, and, the “Sugar Plump Fairies” may make an appearance. The Thunderfoot Cloggers, the Auburn Brass Ensemble and dancers from InSync School of Dance and Pamelot Dance School are just some of the entertainers lined up this year, and, J and J Performing Arts from Lake of the Pines will be singing many traditional Christmas songs. Families can get an experience of olden holidays by taking a ride on the hay wagon pulled by two giant draft horses. Back again this year is Never Cry Wolf Rescue allowing visitors to get up close and personal with these magnificent animals.

In years past and Christmas long ago, the community; friends, neighbors and families would share the Holiday spirit by gathering in the town square, visiting, enjoying and participating in the good cheer of the season. You and your family are invited to share in that same spirit, so mark your calendar and spend some time in Historic Old Town Auburn with our 25th Annual Country Christmas.

For added enjoyment, come see Old Town ‘s beautiful Christmas lights and decorations and visit the many specialty shops and restaurants. Admission is free and we provide a free shuttle from the Fairgrounds. Many Old Town merchants are extending their hours through December on Friday and Saturday nights until 9 p.m. This is an all weather event. No rain dates are scheduled.

Do you know where your county stands in the way of Animal Control’s ordinances concerning wolf hybrids/wolf-dogs?

“Wild animal” means any of the following:

1. Following members of the Class Reptilia: Order Ophidia (such as, but not limited to, racers, boas, water snakes and pythons) over eight (8) feet in length; and
Order Loricata (such as, but not limited to, alligators, caymans and crocodiles) over three (3) feet in length;
Order Sauria (excepting iguanas) over three (3) feet in length.
2. Following members of the Class Aves: Order Falconiformes (such as, but not limited to, hawks, eagles and vultures which are not kept pursuant to federal or state permit); and Subdivision Ratitae (such as, but not limited to, ostriches, rheas, cassowaries, emus)
3. Following members of the Class Mammalia: Order Carnivora, expressly excepting the domestic dog (canis familiaris) and the domestic cat (felis catus), but including, but not limited to, the family Felidae (such as ocelots, margays, tigers, jaguars, leopards and cougars), the family canidae (such as wolves, dingos, coyotes and jackals); and/order Marsupialia (such as kangaroos and opossums), and/order Chiroptera (bats); and/order Edentata (such as sloths, anteaters and armadillos); and/order Proboscidea (elephants); and/order Primata (including, but not limited to, monkeys, chimpanzees and gorillas); and/order Ungulata (expressly excluding any animal which would be included within the definition of “domestic animal” in Section 8.04.140), including, but not limited to, antelope, deer and bison.
4. Any nondomestic species when kept, maintained or harbored in such numbers or in such a manner as to constitute the likelihood of danger to the animals themselves, to human beings or to the property of human beings.
5. Any species of animal which is venomous to human beings whether its venom is transmitted by bite, sting, touch or other means, except honey-producing bees.
6. Any hybrid animal which is part wild animal and is capable of transmitting rabies, except livestock hybrids, and for which no rabies prophylaxis is recognized or authorized by the State of California. (SCC 0815 § 2, 1990.)

Below is Yolo County’s Animal Code:

“Sec. 6-1.306. Dog.
“Dog” shall mean any domesticated animal of the canine family, excluding domesticated coyotes, foxes, dingoes, wolves, or other wild species of the same, as well as all hybrids thereof, which are defined separately in this Title as “wolf hybrids.” (§ 2, Ord. 703, eff. May 22, 1974, as amended by §2, Ord. 1365, eff. December 6, 2007)”

It’s important to know where wolf-dogs stand in your neck of the woods even for owners who don’t own wolf-dogs, just a Northern breed of some kind. Why? Because oftentimes, Huskies, Malamutes, Shepherds (just to name a few) are often mislabeled as a “wolf mix” when they’re not.

Check your county’s ordinances and know your county stands with regards to the wolf-dog.

Kiara was only 7 1/2-years-old but every moment she had with Cory, Betty and Kiara’s brother, Kenai, was a gift. The memories that she made with her family will always reside in their hearts, and the smiles and laughter she imprinted on their souls will never be forgotten.

Farewell, Kiara … until we meet again. Cory and Betty, all our thoughts and prayers are with you through this difficult time.

Timber: In order to be able to romp, play, eat and be safe, it takes donations.

Most people think that if they cannot donate a substantial amount, why bother. That’s the wrong mindset, however, as every little bit helps and goes a long way into taking care of us here at Never Cry Wolf Rescue, as well as, helping others who need to be rescued–and fast.

If you have just $5.00 in spendable income to spare, we would greatly appreciate your consideration in donating to help take care of us. And, we hear that donations are tax-free. Personally, we–as wolves–no nothing about the thing called “taxes” but it most be pretty important because Sam Blake went through all of the loops and hoops to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization just to take care of us.

For those of you who have donated or continue to you–HOWLS OF THANKS!

Help us, help Jack including all the wolves and wolf-dogs nationwide by making your voice heard!

We are working hard at posting anti-wolf legislation, on our website, as fast as we hear about it. How you can help is by placing a comment under the article declaring your disdain for such barbaric yet condoned methods of wolf extermination.

One of our goals is to show Congress, we, the people, are many. And, as a collective force, we insist that all anti-wolf legislation be rescinded and overturned! Congress needs to be educated on true wolf behavior instead of holding on to myths and legends that depict wolves as monsters.

You can start here if you want, under this thread by leaving your comments. We look forward to standing with you on behalf of the wolves.

Thank-you-howls are going out!

We added a cross-posting section under our Adoptions page. This section is dedicated to spreading the word that there are many wolf-dogs who are in need of a new home ASAP.

Many people contact us wanting to relinquish their animal to us. Due to space restrictions, however, we are only allowed to have a certain amount of animals, at our location, at any one time, by law. Therefore, for those people on our Waiting List, as well as, others who randomly contact us stating their animal needs a home, we are helping get the word out by listing them under our Cross-Posting page on Facebook.

Note: It’s important to state that we are only listing animals for people who have contacted us stating they have a wolf-dog that needs a home–as a courtesy service. We are not responsible for any information listed. If you are interested in any of the animals listed, you will need to contact Danielle for the owner’s contact information if it isn’t listed with the photo.

Defenders of Wildlife are on the case of trying to stop anti-wolf legislation, as well as, educating us, the people, on just what legislative turns are being taken to eradicate our wolf population. Read this article.

As far as we’re concerned, if Congress thinks they have the right to dictate which animals have the right to exist and which ones don’t, what’s to stop them from writing legislation to exterminate breeds such as Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Akitas, Chihuahuas and the list goes on? Your companion could be marked for death next. Please take a stand against anti-wolf legislation, among many other pieces of anti-animal, preposterous legislation, for sad-to-say, the wolves are just the beginning in the race for humanity to control, by means of extermination, that which we have no right, too.
